Leaders of four subjects of collective reparation of  Valle del Cauca informed several political actors in the department of their proposals to contribute to the reparation of their communities.

The leaders represent the following subjects of reparation: Arenillo (Palmira), Arenillo (Pradera), La Sonora-Trujillo-La Habana, and Buga.

It was a conversation that took place this afternoon at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cali, where spokespersons of these communities exposed the realities of their territories and their projects to deputies, teams of congressmen of the Valley and leaders of political parties of the region, with what they sought to influence to advance in the crystallization of such initiatives.

Humberto Prieto, leader of Arenillo (Palmira), spoke about the importance of legalizing the ownership of the community headquarters so that it remains in the hands of the community, as well as the support that is required to make the process of production and commercialization of aromatic, medicinal and spice plants. In addition, he referred to the urgency of electrification of the upper part of this territory.

On the other hand, Sandra Viviana Ospina, spokeswoman for Havana, said among other things, it was vital that the educational offer in the region be strengthened “so that our young people do not necessarily have to go to the city, so they can contribute from here to the construction of a nation free of conflict.”

Meanwhile, Hector Fabio Hurtado, from La Sonora, made a call to improve the roads that connect to trails and corregimientos ( rural districts) of their territory.

Carlos Ceballos, of Arenillo (Pradera), stated that one of the dreams of his community is to take forward the agro-ecological and tourist corridor project in his area, “taking advantage, among other things, of the benefits of our coffee”.

Juana Cataño, a deputy present at the meeting, said that it would be very useful to articulate with these communities when the department’s budget study is taking place, so that they can be reflected there. In addition, he indicated that it will be necessary to review the Tertiary Road Plan of the Valley, in relation to the road needs expressed by the majority of communities.

This meeting arose as a result of a process of accompaniment that Valle del Cauca Territorial Victims Unit and the National Democratic Institute have been developing through a strategy based on providing tools and capabilities to victim organizations that are subject to collective reparation.
