After a security council convened by the Governor of Putumayo, Buanerges Rosero Peña, the Victims Unit accompanied a humanitarian mission in inter-institutional coordination, to assess the conditions of the population of Yurilla inspection, jurisdiction of Puerto Leguízamo, after an alert of an alleged violent incursion by illegal armed groups.
The Victims Unit, as the main humanitarian actor of the national Government, coordinated with the territorial entities the pertinent actions to guarantee the attention to the people who had been affected by the violent events, however, the entities were able to verify that it was not a question of a humanitarian emergency of a massive type, as was initially alerted.
In this regard, Germán Narváez, Putumayo territorial director of the Victims Unit, said that “we continue working to defend the human rights of the population of our department and generate and regain trust in the institutions, in the same way we will once again be present in the place to bring care to people who require it”.
In order to monitor the public order situation in this place, a peace council and a day of attention will be held with the different institutions on November 6 and 7.
