The Victims Unit, the Mesetas municipal council (Meta) and the inhabitants of San Isidro district, in the Santo Domingo and La Paila sectors, inaugurated the works corresponding to 400 meters of the footprint on the only roadway in the village.
Carlos Pardo Alezones, territorial director for Meta and Eastern Plains of Unit, said that “this work will substantially improve mobility in this sector that years ago was affected by armed conflict; the communities and the local government, which participated with economic resources and labor, showed great satisfaction because of the State support “.
The investment of the Victims Unit corresponds to a mechanism that is based on the principles of complementarity and subsidiarity, through which it supplies territorial entities (mayorships, governorates) with construction materials and / or furniture for the execution of infrastructure projects social and community.
The total value of project was $ 253,998,967 million, of which the Unit assumed 70%, the municipal administration 20% and the community 10%, which corresponded to labor.
Carlos Ferney Caicedo Pedraza, Mesetas´Mayor, said that “this is one of the largest municipalities in the department, our communities suffer from the issue of displacement and the state of roads, which directly affects agricultural and livestock production. In this context, the improvement of road infrastructure is essential. We are grateful, especially the beneficiary community, because they will have lower costs in the mobility of their products with these works”.
The municipal leader stressed that Mesetas is a pioneer territory in humanitarian demining, promoter highlighted in actions for peace and reconciliation and hopes to consolidate its tourism and agricultural potential.
