In the special district of Tumaco, the Victims Unit continued with the delivery of administrative compensation, benefiting 85 victims with an investment of more than 551 million pesos, through the route established by Resolution 1049 of 2019, that prioritizes payments to people over 74 years of age, with disabilities or with some catastrophic illness.
Juan Carlos Zambrano *, beneficiary victim, thanked the Unit for the delivery of this economic resource that it will use to improve its quality of life: “I am grateful because it is like a dream that came true, I would ask about my process many times and I thought it would not come, but today it is a reality, and this money will help me improve my housing and health conditions and to be able to be better in this situation”.
For his part, William Pinzón, territorial director of the Victims Unit in Nariño, indicated that “we want to thank the municipal mayor, Maria Emilcen Angulo, who since the health emergency began has provided the necessary support to reach the victims with these benefits”.
Similarly, Pinzón said that “although no material aid can replace a life, the objective is that these spaces and resources contribute to improving their living conditions, continuing their projects and hand in hand with the territorial entities to comply with the law and the public policy for victims in the country; It is very satisfying to know that this year, despite the circumstances, we delivered a historic figure in compensation, the highest investment in individual reparation in all the years of the law, thus we ratify with facts, our commitment to the victims.
In 2020, the Victims Unit delivered 1.661 letters of compensation in Tumaco with an investment of more than 12.189 million pesos, a historical figure for the highest investment in this municipality in individual reparations. These deliveries were made in coordination with the Mayor’s Office, an entity that has arranged the spaces for the different days and some elements to develop the activity with the due biosafety protocol.
During the letter delivery days, counseling was provided to the victims through the accompaniment program for the adequate investment of resources with an ethnic focus, which provides information on the importance of saving, quality of life and the main approaches investment, among others.
