The Victims Unit issued a report describing the status of the delivery of letters of compensation to victims in the national territory.
The report indicates that, last October, the victims of Vaupés received 61 million pesos in compensation payments and that the general value of this year in the department is $ 472 million.
In this last month, the beneficiaries are recognized victims of the crimes of disappearance and forced displacement, who were prioritized disability; for being older than 74 years; suffering from serious, ruinous or high cost illnesses, or identifying themselves with more than one of these criteria.
The Director of the Unit in Meta and Llanos Orientales, Carlos Pardo Alezones, stressed that, despite the difficulties presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the entity has been complying with these payments.
“We implemented the notification mechanism via text message. In addition, our officials continue to personally deliver these letters, under all biosecurity measures”, he said.
The official also recalled that all the procedures of the Unit are free and the victims do not need intermediaries to access them.
All the beneficiaries of these measures received advice on the appropriate investment of resources, so that they use the compensation money in aspects that contribute to improving their quality of life.
