In Valle del Cauca, a strategy was put in place to improve the model of mental health care for the victims of conflict of black, Afro-Colombian, Raizal and Palenque communities.
Luz Adriana Toro, territorial director of Victims Unit in Valle del Cauca, explained that the entity joined forces with the Valle Governorate to develop a series of special workshops aimed at this purpose in different municipalities.
These are workshops on differential focus and mental health for black, Afro-Colombian, Raizales and Palenquero communities with emphasis on the victim population. It is a training strategy for trainers, to enhance the capacities in the comprehensive care of this population. The axis of these activities is the cultural knowledge about self-care and the collective care of mental health, taking into account the experiences of participants.
The pilot workshop was held recently in the municipality of Yumbo. In addition, these days were scheduled in Tuluá on April 26 and in Jamundí, next May 2, which will have the support of respective local administrations.
One of the fundamental aspects that develops in these training spaces is the socialization of Decree Law 4635 of 2011, “by which measures of assistance, attention, integral reparation and restitution of lands are given to victims belonging to black communities, afrocolombian, raizal and palenque “.
