Unit for Victims delivered 16 community infrastructure projects in PDET municipalities of Catatumbo

Teorama, San Calixto and Convencion are priority populations with the Development Programs with a Territorial Approach (PDET) contemplated in the peace accords.

With an investment of close to $ 1 billion, the Victims Unit delivered 16 social and community infrastructure projects in the north-eastern municipalities of Teorama, San Calixto, Convencion and Ábrego.

The territorial director of the Victims Unit in this area of ​​the country, Alicia María Rojas Pérez, explained that the initiatives were implemented within the framework of the Special Community Support Schemes and “are intended to complement, harmonize or make flexible the offer or strategies available in such a way that progress can be made towards the processes of socio-economic stabilization and comprehensive reparation of the population in the process of return and / or relocation, progressing gradually and progressively in carrying out the different elements of return or relocation in order to contribute to the restitution of the rights of the returned, relocated or integrated victim population”.

Similarly, Rojas Pérez highlighted that infrastructure projects are part of the implementation of peace agreements with the municipalities that have Development Programs with a Territorial Approach (PDET). “Three of the four prioritized municipalities with these initiatives are part of the PDETs where we make investments between $ 150 million and $ 250 million in each of them with the delivery of materials for the construction of social and sports venues, educational venues, school restaurants and ways, also contributing to improve the processes of coexistence, reconciliation and peacebuilding in these communities affected by violence”.

For their part, the victims’ liaisons of the PDET municipalities described the works carried out by the Victims Unit as having a great social impact: “The truth is that these events generate peace for these communities and bring great benefits to the victims of armed conflict that they can count on social and community infrastructure in excellent condition to regain confidence in the institutions of the State. It is also important to clarify the teamwork that has been generated between the municipal administration and the Victims Unit”, said Jhonny Quintero, the liaison for victims of the Convention municipality.

Finally, the San Calixto victims liaison, Yurfred Montaguth Ortega, thanked the Unit for the initiatives implemented within the framework of the Return and Relocation program: “These projects have brought a benefit by improving traffic conditions on the roads and generating spaces safe and adequate for the inhabitants of the communities. These works have a positive impact on the community because they are actions that were agreed upon and socialized with the community”, she concluded.

San Calixto

  • Construction of the communal hall of La Marina village.
  • Adaptation of the educational headquarters and school restaurant in Algarrobos hamlet.
  • Construction of the communal hall of San Roque path.
  • Construction of a sports center plate and chain link fence on Vista Hermosa hamlet.

Teorama

  • Remodeling and adaptation of the educational headquarters belonging to El Juncal hamlet.
  • Building the school restaurant of the educational headquarters of Puente Azul hamlet.
  • Construction of the school restaurant of the educational center of Mata de Tilo hamlet.

Convencion

  • Improvement of habitability conditions of 13 families in the El Guamal village.
  • Construction of the Huella plate, La Libertad path.
  • Construction of a communal hall in the El Guamal village.
  • Adaptation of the Sports Center of the El Guamal path.

Abrego

  • Construction of a school restaurant, Bellavista hamlet.
  • Construction of multifunctional court, El LLanón hamlet.
  • Enclosure construction, El Guamal hamlet.
  • Construction of a school restaurant, Aguita Pavez hamlet.
  • Construction of a multifunctional court in Potrero Nuevo hamlet.
