“One and a thousand things to learn” is the literary project based on reading implemented by three young victims of armed conflict, with a sector of the child population in a vulnerable condition in the border municipality of Villa del Rosario (Norte de Santander).
These young women, between the ages of 18 and 19, decided to articulate their university studies with child learning processes in the midst of the pandemic. “One and a thousand things to learn, it was born due to the problems that we live in our neighborhood since many children came to us to advise them because they did not understand the subject, since for all this topic of the pandemic in a virtual way there was very little learning and their parents only helped them because of the little knowledge they had about them, so we wanted to get together and create this non-profit initiative that can help our community”, said Daniela Díaz, one of the creators of the project.
They grew up together and are currently training academically in higher education studies and have common aspects that bet on the reconstruction of the social network as peace-building agents in this municipality on the border with Venezuela. “Seeing the need for children, we wanted to support them from our knowledge, based on the habit of reading”, said Yuliana Lobo, one of the project leaders.
Two social communicators and an architect in training today announce this initiative to extend it in Buenavista sector that benefits more children and young people, who in the midst of their virtual conditions require educational advice. “We decided to create the mini-library for the children of Buenavista II, this is how this ‘libratón’ was born, inviting all the people who have their books that they do not use or who want to donate to contribute and help with the learning of our children; remember a book transforms lives”, explains Alexandra Díaz, creator of the project.
The director of the Victims Unit in Norte de Santander and Arauca, Alicia María Rojas Pérez, highlighted the social work of these young women: “They are an example of life, at their young age they are generating actions for the other, contributing to change and social transformation of their sector. From a personal point of view, I am linked to this activity to contribute to this great project that arises from the social and educational reality where young people are contributing from their conditions to improve the quality of life of other people”.
