After the previous work of identifying the resident population in Yurilla hamlet of the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo and finding out who of them are registered in the Sole Registry of Victims, 120 people were selected to receive the humanitarian aid that the Victims Unit took to this location.
During the weekend the different entities were present in this Putumayo town where the Unit delivered food and donation packages with clothing, footwear, accessories and tools for the home, leaving a smile on the children and peasant population that inhabit area.
To get to this place it was necessary to travel more than three hours, first by vehicle to the municipality of Santana and from there a helicopter of the National Army transferred the personnel, as well as the three tons of aid that the Unit carried. In this way, it was possible to penetrate the deepest part of the jungle in Putumayo.
In this act of humanitarian mission, led by the Governorate of Putumayo, the governor highlighted the valuable contribution made by the entity to these 120 families, likewise the community was quite grateful for this visit and the aid received.
Some of the beneficiaries traveled from neighboring villages to this place to receive their aid, as was the case of Celiano Garaviz, who assured that “these food kits reach us in good time because due to the issue of the pandemic it has been difficult to obtain the sustenance That is why we hope that they will continue to come here to continue giving us this aid”.
Likewise, Mr. Miguel Antonio Jiménez, who assured to be a farmer dedicated to agriculture in the area, expressed that he was happy to receive the kits with clothing as it would be very useful for his family.
During the day, commitments were also made with the mayor of the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo to accompany the verification mission that will be carried out this week to Puerto Ospina, another of the villages far from the urban area.
