With the technical assistance to the organizations, on the participation protocol, the Victims ‘Unit initiated the accompaniment for the election of the municipal victims’ tables, which guarantee the incidence of these people in the planning, execution and control of public policies within the National System of Comprehensive Care and Reparation for Victims (Snariv).
The Unit seeks, through this process, a real and effective intervention of victims in spaces of local, regional and national citizen participation. In addition, victim organizations should be empowered in the role they will play within the participation tables and know what the functions are and their impact on public policy.
The beneficiary population highlighted the importance of institutional support and explained the scope of the same. “We learned that victims play an important role in this process that is given to us at the municipal table of participation of victims, since the norm is taken into account”. This is a role of institutional character and as a participation space where establish the public policies of victims is where we leaders with our gender focus can make effective the restitution of our rights through plans programs and projects that are carried inside the table”, said Yorelly Araque Salcedo, President of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Los Patios.
In Norte de Santander, victim organizations have already carried out registration activities. The municipalities with the largest participation to date, in their order, are Ocaña, Cúcuta, Arboledas and Puerto Santander.
