Victims can access free public higher education in 17 institutions in Antioquia

People can apply for professional technical, university or technological careers with financial support for their support in 61 educational institutions in Colombia, through the Generation E program.

With the new Generation E program, implemented by the National Government, victims of armed conflict can now access free public higher education to pursue professional technical, university or technological careers with financial support for their support and academic expenses. Of 61 public institutions in the country that are part of the program, 17 have a presence in Antioquia in any form (face-to-face or distance).

In order for students to enter, remain and graduate from academic programs, one hundred percent of the tuition fee charged to the student admitted by an institution will be covered. In addition, a support will be granted for maintenance for the duration of the studies, through Social Prosperity, the Ministry of Higher Education and Icetex.

The requirements for the population affected by the conflict are: being Colombian, having a bachelor’s degree, having submitted the State Examination, not having a university degree, being in the Unified Registry of Victims of the Victims Unit, being registered in the Sisbén with a maximum score of 32 and having been admitted by one of the 61 public institutions recognized in Colombia.

With the component “Equity, advance in gratuity”, 320,000 people will benefit during the four-year period of the current Government (80,000 a year), who will thus have more opportunities to advance in their life project. It also gives free access to higher education to students with low economic resources registered in the Sisbén and an indigenous population registered in the Ministry of the Interior.
