The Victims Unit carried out a day to characterize the damage caused by the conflict to indigenous people from Paez El Líbano reservation in the municipality of Solano (Caquetá), who, after having returned to their place of origin, seek to heal their wounds and initiate a new life.
Yhina Paola Lombana López, territorial director of the Unit in Caquetá and Huila, indicated that “for three days 40 members of this community related their testimony and held a dialogue of knowledge, to relive their ancestral history, but also what happened in the middle of the conflict, through tools such as attributes of the territory, timeline and map making and identification of sacred sites, identifying their affectation”.
For her part, Graciela Ulcué, indigenous governor of said reservation, said that “I want to warmly thank the Victims Unit for this beautiful work that was done, we toured the territory and we remember our ancestral culture with this institution”.
The Unit hopes to close the characterization of the damage to the community in mid-2021, in order to advance in the formulation and implementation of the comprehensive plan for collective reparation, allowing this ancestral people to rebuild its life project in the middle of the Caquetá jungle.
Finally, Cristian Fabián Díaz, indigenous leader of the reservation, assured that “we are very satisfied with the work carried out, the professionals of the Unit were very committed and took ownership of the feeling of the community; the idea is to have an excellent consultation so that collective reparation meets the expectations of our people and can benefit”.
