A total of 36 peasant families that returned to their territory in El Líbano rural district, jurisdiction of Pradera municipality (Valle del Cauca), in 2011, received support from the Victims Unit to strengthen their agricultural production.
This is how this community, which lived through the rigors of forced displacement due to the armed conflict and is now rebuilding its life in Libano, received a full supply of supplies and tools with food seeds such as celery, beans, paprika, lettuce, beans, cucumber (among others), as well as elements such as fertilizers, estivas, baskets, hoes, etc.
“This contribution is made within the framework of our tasks within the implementation of the Return Plan of this community, which is committed to its peasant vocation”, said Luz Adriana Toro Vélez, territorial director of the Unit in El Valle.
Norleiba Teresa Murillo, president of the Communal Action Board of El Libano, pointed out that “for us this is a great day, we are happy for the support of productive projects, so that families can have their own productive units”.
This process has been accompanied by the Pradera Mayor’s Office, led by its governor, Justino Sinisterra, who was present at the delivery of these items.
Within this same Return Plan, the Unit delivered to this community in 2019 furniture and technological equipment for José Celestino Mutis school.
In addition, El Libano was recognized as a subject of collective reparation by the Colombian Government in 2015, due to the damages suffered jointly in the middle of the armed conflict. This collective subject is made up of 210 people who inhabit this territory, among which are the 36 returned families.
