Victims of Norte de Santander express their solidarity, at Christmas time

In the municipality of Villa del Rosario, the Fundación Artes Empíricas, made up of a population affected by the armed conflict, provided food to vulnerable people.

With “Sancocho” soup, the population victim of violence in the border municipality of Villa del Rosario, Norte de Santander, joined their efforts to bring food to the elderly population, residing in the Buenavista II sector.

Kevin Uribe, promoter of the activity, member of the Empirical Arts Foundation and representative of the community in the returns and relocations process implemented by the Unit for Victims in the Buenavista II neighborhood of Villa del Rosario, indicated that the activity seeks to strengthen the spaces of reconciliation and coexistence of a community that suffers the economic, health and social effects caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In this border area with Venezuela live a considerable number of people affected by the violence, the vast majority, displaced people who are trying to overcome ourselves and improve our living conditions. The fact of being victims of violence does not prevent us from generating this kind of actions that are given thanks to the will and desire to help others and more in these times that we are living”, said Uribe.

The community leader stressed that the day was carried out in compliance with biosecurity protocols and respecting social distancing. “We are aware that there is a long way to go. We have made this stew that we have prepared with love and with that we calm our hunger for today. We want to make a call to people with good hearts to be linked with these initiatives, social works that seek to improve and dignify the living conditions of our older adults. For her part, Martha Mora, legal representative of the Empirical Arts Foundation, pointed out that other actions are being articulated to bring joy to this community during this Christmas season. “We believe in hope and we carry our faith as a flag, the angels that support us to carry out these social works are the protagonists of these actions, we are the bridge of hope; the Empirical Arts Foundation invites many more to join, now we are preparing for the campaign sponsor a child at Christmas”.

“We thank the Victims Unit and the SNARIV, because thanks to this cohesion of forces the area of Buenavista dos tourist viewpoint was recovered, and more works are coming to guarantee protective environments for all of us. We believe in peace built with many hands and culture as an element of healing and resilience”, added Martha Mora.
