The Victims Unit delivered 50 packages of items donated by DIAN, to the same number of victim homes, through Recreando Urabá foundation, in support of these people who had not received any type of help during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The kits consist of clothing, footwear, educational toys, among other elements, which contribute to the well-being and integration of families in this time of emergency.
“These donations of footwear, T-shirts, pants, toys and other items, in one way or another, will reach this population, we can frame it in the theme of reparation as emotional support, because young people will feel good and they will to serve for their daily lives in these difficult times, “said Jovanys Mena Mosquera, legal representative of Recreando Urabá Foundation.
This foundation, as Jovanys recounts, was created in 2012, one year after the victims’ law came into force, in order to support youth and childhood victims of armed conflict through recreation.
In the current context of crisis, the organization called on the Unit to support the families that make it up, which the entity served through these grants.
“We delivered 50 kits to the victim population through Recreando Urabá foundation, with which we seek to reach the population that is confined, isolated and that from their homes can develop recreational activities, and be able to support them with clothing and other items for personal use” said Elizabeth Granada Ríos, director of the Urabá-Darién territory of the Victims Unit.
The Unit has also been providing other aid, including food kits, to victims in the north and south of Urabá, and in municipalities such as Acandí, Carmen del Darién, Riosucio, and Unguía in Darién Chocoano.
For the deliveries of food packages in the different municipalities, we have had the support of the local mayors, in coordination with the municipal tables of victims and the legal representatives, among others.
