Up to Mapiripán, Meta, the Victims Unit arrived, in order to continue delivering Humanitarian Aid in Kind, comprised of food kits with the kilocaloric balances and protein consumption required by the approximately 1.070 indigenous people of the Jiw and Jiw communities. The beneficiaries are more than 1,000 people, who are part of 206 families from the Naexal Jalt reservation and 59 families from the Sikuani indigenous community, located in the Puerto Alvira inspection, a few hours by river from the municipality of Mapiripán.
It should be remembered that eight years ago the Constitutional Court ordered the protection of this population that is at risk of displacement, confinement, physical and cultural extermination, which is why the Victims Unit, following with this indication, has not stopped month to month of fulfilling this commitment to serve the Jiw and Sikuani community, making food deliveries in a timely manner.
According to Carlos Pardo Alezones, territorial director of Meta and Llanos Orientales of the Unit, “despite the pandemic, the entity has followed all the biosafety protocols when arriving in Mapiripán to deliver humanitarian aid and guarantee that our indigenous communities do not take any kind of risk”.
