Victims of Putumayo’s armed conflict received solidarity

The community of the Amazonian piedmont commemorated the National Day of Memory and Solidarity with Victims from the Municipal Coliseum through dances, songs and works of art.

The Territorial Putumayo Victims Unit under the leadership of its director Germán Narváez and with the support of members of the Municipal Victims and City Hall, managed to coordinate the solemn and artistic events commemorating the victim population of the municipality of Orito.

In the midst of a colorful environment, attendees were linked to the ritual of harmonization by the traditional doctor Claret Tascón Arias, who belongs to la Cristalina shelter and is a member of the Municipal Table of Victims.

Other acts that achieved an essential connection were those made by the music-martial band of San José de Orito Educational Institution and Batuta Foundation with its program “Music for Reconciliation”.

These artistic interventions were able to highlight the talent of lower Putumayo community, with plays staged by the members of Municipal Table of Victims and the different governmental and non-governmental institutions with the Theatre play “Reborn the victims”.

It is important to highlight the emotional moments and acknowledgments to the leaders of Municipal Table who highlighted the work that the Victims Unit in this region has been developing.

This was stated by María Sixta Figueroa, coordinator of Municipal Board who thanked the Municipal Mayor’s Office, the Government Secretariat and the Mercy Corps Cooperation Agency for their support in the realization of such a great event. “We do not want them to repeat themselves and we remember those events that are already history and we must not forget. We want to make a difference and we achieve it. We thank the Unit and its director Germán Narváez for his presence, since he fulfilled his promise. I give my sincere thanks on behalf of the Bureau of Orito Victims”, said the municipal leader.

With the delivery of 30 diplomas of recognition among those who count 15 for leadership to the members of table for their continuous work and two others for the mayor and Government secretary, the entity reaffirmed its commitment and ratified the institutional responsibility in its duty missionary.

In turn, honorary diplomas were awarded to the artists who occupied the first three positions in the singing contest and 6 school kits. During the commemorative act highlights the willingness to rebuild the social fabric by all the inhabitants of this area of department and the linkage of the council, Ombudsman´s Office, ICBF, Black People Observers, Police and Army during the realization of event.
