The Unit for the Victims response moves forward through commitments in the “Dialogues for the fundamental” event

Progress, achievements and pending points from the commitments of the “Dialogue for the Fundamental” were shown by the SNARIV sub-directorates and the Nation-Territory of the Unit for the Victims before the Executive Committee of the National Victims Participation Board in its first session of 2022.

The results presented by the SNARIV Sub-director, Junny La Serna, focused on vital interest issues for the integral victims’ reparation such as land restitution, urban and rural housing, leaders’ security in the territory, health, education, and victims abroad; especially, she focused on issues that must be addressed by the SNARIV entities under the Unit for the Victims’ coordination.

The Executive Committee members showed the inconveniences that, in their opinion, have not allowed the effective measures development for the completion of the related commitments, making a greater emphasis on the leaders’ security. Because of this, the Unit will start the coordination of specific meetings with SNARIV’s entities in charge of the issues and the victims so there can be a prompt review of these matters.

In the same way, the territorial commitments in the 32 Colombian departments were examined. “We have completed 80% of the 359 commitments. The most relevant issues are related to the Transitional Justice Committees strengthening, since it is the main scenario to make decisions related to the Victims Public Policy that must be carried out in mayors and governors’ offices, along with and the offer,” said Carolina Cotes, the Unit’s Nation-Territory Sub-director.

The “Dialogues for the Fundamental” were a Vice Presidency strategy to articulate spaces between the SNARIV entities and the victim population for the Victims Public Policy strengthening through actions, strategies and agreements that allowed progress in integral care, assistance, and reparation.

The results were agreements on social, labor, economic, educational, agricultural and security issues through the programs and projects review to consolidate assistance and integral reparation for more than 9 million Colombians affected by the conflict.

The Citizen Service Group presented to the Executive Committee all the channels that the Unit for the Victims uses to guarantee efficient communication and information services with the country’s citizens and victims, which were reinforced during the pandemic.
