The director of Victims Unit, Ramón Rodríguez and the director of The Polus Center, Hanns Rothschild, signed a letter of understanding that seeks to meet the different needs and requests of the victims of anti-personnel mines. “Not all victims need the same and what The Polus does is sit down with them to listen to them; the accompaniment is on the part of the Unit for the Victims and of all the institutions, and we look for concrete solutions for concrete needs”.
Rothschild announced that resources for close to 300 thousand dollars are destined for the attention of victims of antipersonnel mines: “Our mission has always been with people with disabilities and the victims of antipersonnel mines. We are very happy because the benefit will be for them”.
Ramón Rodríguez explained that at the moment the resources are focused on the departments of Cauca and Antioquia, where visits have been made to about 48 victims of antipersonnel mines. “What is sought is to target those victims of mines who have not been served because they are too far from the capital or because of access problems, or because of difficulties in arriving because of their disability; we want them to have a timely response from the State and with the articulation of the Polus Center organization”, the official added.
