Alba Luz Pradilla ha tenido que desplazarse de manera forzosa dos veces, y refugiarse en México una vez, debido al conflicto armado interno. La primera por miedo ante las amenazas de las Farc y la segunda por el asesinato de su esposo a manos del mismo grupo guerrillero (hoy en proceso de desmovilización). La tercera, le aconsejaron salir del país y se fue para México varios meses.
Crió sola a sus tres hijos y hoy lidera la Asociación de Mujeres Víctimas del Huila. No han pasado muchos años desde que le sucedieron esas tragedias y sus palabras distan mucho de las de una persona hundida en el dolor y en el pesimismo: “la vida me volvió a sonreír y sé que podré cumplir mis sueños y ayudar a otras víctimas a alcanzar los suyos”.
Apenas empezaba el siglo XXI, cuando Alba Luz se separó de su primer esposo y empezó a trabajar como operaria en una fábrica en Bogotá, para sacar adelante a los dos hijos que le quedaron de aquella unión. Después de dos años, conoció a José Alejandro, quien se convirtió después en su compañero permanente. Pasó otro lapso igual y llegó su tercer hijo, la consolidación del hogar.
En el año 2005, la familia completa se trasladó al Huila, ya que José Alejandro había conseguido empleo cuidando una finca en el municipio de Baraya. Les parecía un bello lugar para edificar la familia.
Tan solo pasaron ocho meses para que entendieran que no sería así. Recibieron visitas de guerrilleros de las FARC, quienes les informaron que querían reclutar a su hija Lorena de 11 años de edad. El hecho les generó angustia y la pareja decidió huir de inmediato.
Se refugiaron en casa de un tío de Alba, en San Vicente del Caguán, quien les ayudó a encontrar trabajo, a ella en un restaurante y a su esposo como ayudante en una empresa transportadora. Y el progreso empezó a evidenciarse.
En el 2007, la pareja contaba con ahorros suficientes para montar su propio negocio, un estanco al que llegaban toda clase de personas, entre ellas policías y militares. Entonces, surgió el rumor de que Alba, era informante del Ejército y recibió múltiples amenazas que la llevaron a cerrar el negocio.
Ahora, la familia vivía del vehículo de transporte público intermunicipal que compró su esposo. Ella no pudo volver a trabajar ya que las amenazas contra su vida no paraban. Las puso en conocimiento de las autoridades, la Cruz Roja, la Defensoría del Pueblo, y otras entidades que no recuerda, sin obtener respuesta alguna.
Durante un tiempo todo pareció calmarse. Se sentían felices, los hijos estudiaban, el esposo trabajaba y ella cumplía con los quehaceres domésticos. Pero el conflicto armado apareció otra vez en sus vidas. José Alejandro empezó a tener problemas porque entre los pasajeros le tocaba transportar guerrilleros y si no lo hacia lo amenazaban. Las autoridades comenzaron a asociarlo con la guerrilla.
En diciembre del 2011 la guerrilla le ordenó a José Alejandro recoger y transportar en su vehículo unos víveres para entregarlos en determinado lugar, él se negó y de nuevo fue amenazado. Pocas semanas después, le ordenaron transportar a un grupo de guerrilleros y él hizo caso omiso.
Atreverse a desafiar al grupo guerrillero que controlaba la región, tuvo como consecuencia que el 26 de diciembre de 2011, después de pasar una feliz navidad en familia, José Alejandro fuera asesinado. Arrancó en el bus a su destino muy temprano en la mañana y Alba volvió a saber de él a las 6:30 p.m. cuando Jesús Antonio, su hermano, la llamó para darle la peor noticia de su vida: había sido asesinado y el vehículo, incinerado.
“Ahí cambio mi vida, se acabó mi tranquilidad, de un segundo a otro todo cambio para mí”, afirma Alba. En plena funeraria, después de que los compañeros de trabajo de él recogieron el cuerpo, la guerrilla le comunicó que tenía seis horas para abandonar el pueblo, o correría igual suerte. Alba no tuvo otra opción que huir de nuevo, con lo poco que pudo llevar, esta vez rumbo a Bogotá.
Le enviaron a la capital del país el cuerpo de su esposo y el 29 de diciembre le dio cristiana sepultura. Luego se radicó en Neiva, hasta donde la siguieron las amenazas contra ella y sus hijos. Cambió su aspecto físico y no sirvió, así que la Agencia de Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados (ACNUR) la apoyó para del salir del país por tres meses, ubicándola en México.
Regresó a Neiva, a la casa de su mamá. Dormían los cuatro en una alcoba con dos camas, no tenía empleo y la situación se tornaba cada día peor. La necesidad, hizo que su hija mayor comenzara a trabajar en un casino y renunciara a su sueño de ser odontóloga.
Alba, sin embargo, mantuvo la confianza. Lo primero que logro fue convertirse en propietaria de vivienda gracias a la estrategia Red Unidos de la Presidencia de la República. Recibió su apartamento completamente gratis en septiembre del 2015 y en este mismo año otro amor llegó a su vida: César, un estudiante de psicología, empresario, que le ha brindado apoyo y afecto, y la motivó a tener un negocio independiente. Se convirtió en distribuidora de una marca de productos para el cabello, a base de baba de caracol; hoy los lleva, con su hija, a todo el departamento.
En marzo de este año, Alba y otras mujeres víctimas del conflicto armado decidieron crear una Asociación de la que ella es representante legal. “Con la Asociación de Empresarias Víctimas del Huila buscamos gestionar recursos que nos sirvan como capital semilla para crecer y ser ejemplo de pujanza y superación para otras víctimas que necesitan encontrar espejos que las animen a seguir adelante, de manera que logren superar, como yo, su hecho victimizante y se conviertan en empresarias”, dice.
Alba sueña con su distribuidora consolidada en un local propio, desde donde pueda enseñar a todas las mujeres huilenses a cuidar de forma adecuada su cabello. Su mayor anhelo es poder ver a sus hijos convertidos en profesionales exitosos y felices. De la guerra guarda un triste recuerdo, aún le genera dolor, pero la visión del futuro prometedor que ella misma ha decidido labrarse, la anima a seguir adelante poco a poco.

Screen reader and keyboard navigation
Our website implements the ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attribute technique, along with several different behavior changes, to ensure that blind users who visit with screen readers can read, understand, and enjoy the features of the website. As soon as a user with a screen reader enters your site, they are immediately prompted to enter the screen reader profile so they can effectively navigate and operate your site. Here's how our website covers some of the most important screen reader requirements, along with console screenshots of code examples:
Screen Reader Optimization: We run a background process that learns website components from top to bottom, to ensure continued compliance even when the website is updated. In this process, we provide screen readers with meaningful data using the ARIA attribute set. For example, we provide accurate form tags; actionable icon descriptions (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guide for form inputs; roles of elements such as buttons, menus, modal dialogs (popups), and others. In addition, the background process scans all images on the website and provides an accurate and meaningful description based on Image Object Recognition as an ALT (alternative text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology. To activate screen reader settings at any time, users just need to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen reader users also receive automated prompts to activate screen reader mode as soon as they enter the website.
These settings are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the HTML of the website and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website work with the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdown menus with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, activate buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio items and checkboxes using the arrow keys and complete them with the space bar or the Enter key. In addition, keyboard users will find quick navigation and content skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first site elements while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving keyboard focus to them as soon as they appear, and not allowing focus to drift away from it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as "M" (menus), "H" (headers), "F" (forms), "B" (buttons), and "G" (graphics) to jump to specific items.
Disability profiles accepted on our website
Epilepsy Safe Mode: This profile allows people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures resulting from flashing or flickering animations and risky color combinations.
Visually Impaired Mode: This mode adjusts the website for the comfort of visually impaired users such as impaired vision, tunnel vision, cataracts, glaucoma, and others.
Cognitive Impairment Mode – This mode provides different support options to help users with cognitive impairments such as dyslexia, autism, AVC, and others to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
ADHD Friendly Mode – This mode helps users with ADHD and neurodevelopmental disorders to read, navigate, and focus on the main elements of the website more easily, while significantly reducing distractions.
Blind Mode – This mode configures the website to be compatible with screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.
Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor Disability): This profile allows people with motor disabilities to operate the website using the Tab, Shift+Tab, and Enter keys on the keyboard. Users can also use shortcuts such as "M" (menus), "H" (headers), "F" (forms), "B" (buttons), and "G" (graphics) to jump to specific items.
Additional UI, layout, and readability tweaks
Font Settings: Users can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
Color Settings: Users can select various color contrast profiles, such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap title, text, and background color combinations, with more than 7 different color options.
Animations: Epileptic users can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Interface-driven animations include videos, GIFs, and flashing CSS transitions.
Content Highlighting – Users can choose to emphasize important elements like links and titles. They can also choose to highlight only focused or suspended items.
Audio Mute: Users with hearing aids may experience headaches or other issues due to autoplay of audio. This option allows users to mute the entire website instantly.
Cognitive disorders: We use a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
Additional features: We provide users with the option to change the color and size of the cursor, use a print mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other features.

Our goal is to support the widest possible range of browsers and assistive technologies, so our users can choose the tools that work best for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all the major systems that comprise more than 95 % of the user market share, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (readers). screen), for both Windows and MAC users.
