The Director of the Unit for the Victims, Ramon Rodriguez, and the Executive Director of Save the Children in Colombia, Maria Paula Martinez, signed a MOU in favor of the children victims of the conflict.
The purpose is to generate articulated work that contributes to strengthen family, community and institutional environments for the prevention, protection and response against the use of underage victims and young victims between 14 and 28 years. This MOU also aims to promote access to a relevant and quality educational cycle and to improve humanitarian response for internal displacement and migratory crisis emergencies.
Rodriguez highlighted the work carried out by Save The Children throughout the country: “Coordination is needed so Save The Children’s and the Unit for the Victims’ actions are synchronized, which will allow us to carry out concrete territorial interventions. That is why the work plan that surrounds the MOU is important.”
The MOU seeks to work in an articulated manner to collect good practices and the expertise of a partner such as Save the Children, especially in terms of strengthening the school and community as protective environments for boys, girls and teenagers, and to generate an installed capacity in the Unit for the Victims, which contributes and supports the aid and reparation of this population.
Finally, the entity’s General Director announced MOU has an impact on the country, and within its work plan, there are specific actions for the Arauca department.
Context
Since 2018, Save The Children expressed its interest in sharing with the Unit for the Victims its experiences regarding prevention and protection of boys, girls and teenagers in educational spaces and community settings. As well as their knowledge in case management for children risk prevention, technical assistance and coordination with authorities for plans and programs implementation with a focus on children, as well as the participation of children and adolescents in these programs.
