Victims Unit presented work balance before the table of victims of Filandia (Quindío)

The Victims Unit gave an account of what its efforts have been in favor of the victims of armed conflict who live in this municipality during the time of the pandemic.

Laura Moreno Mejía, territorial director of the Unit in the Coffee Region, led the delegation of the Unit for Victims during the session of the Municipal Participation Table of the Quindio town of Filandia, where she presented a balance of the actions that the entity has fulfilled for the benefit of the victim population during this period to date.

“Despite all the difficulties we have had due to COVID-19, we have worked hard to continue repairing the victim population in a comprehensive manner. Let us remember that it is not only the issue of compensation and humanitarian aid, it is also psychosocial care and in this case donations that help us strengthen the productive projects of the territory”, stated Moreno Mejía.

Currently, our entity has delivered 14 letters of compensation to victims who live directly in Filandia for a value of $ 90 million pesos; In the historical data according to the statistics of the National Information Network, 113 people have already been compensated, which amounts to an investment of $ 694 million in this territory by the entity.

Likewise, information was presented on the 62 transfers in humanitarian assistance that have been carried out for victims of forced displacement living in Filandia and that translates into an investment of $34 million pesos by the entity so that families can correct their deficiencies in temporary accommodation and food issues. Likewise, it was reported about DIAN donations through the Unit (a scooter type motorcycle, fabrics and other raw materials) to strengthen fish and textile production projects, thus improving the quality of life of victims in the locality.

“I thank and applaud this call, as an administration we are legally committed to supporting all the processes that take place in the municipality with the victim population. Victim leaders know about the teamwork we have been doing, we have a very important housing project for 14 victim families in Filandia and in addition to that we are supporting different processes so that the population continues to move forward in this open-door administration that it wants always a direct contact, we are not going to re-victimize them”, argued municipal mayor Jaime Franco.

Finally, at the meeting, which was chaired by the coordinator of the Participation Table, Gina Angélica Marroquín, and the technical secretariat, Yessi Caterine Alape, the Unit also explained about the prioritization criteria that are currently being used for the delivery of compensation letters: disability, people over 74 years of age or with a catastrophic or high-cost illness.
