With emotional messages, the members and delegates of the tables for the participation of victims of Ocaña and Norte de Santander, remembered Jorge Solano, murdered in that municipality, as a beloved social leader, respected by the community and defender of life and justice in one of the areas hardest hit by violence in the country.
“They cut off our wings, they took away a very important bishop from the Municipal Table of Victims of Ocaña. Jorge Luis Solano Vega generated social change and transformation in Ocaña and the Catatumbo area. The Victims’ Roundtable rejects and pronounces on the vile murder of the member of this participation space, he was a human rights defender and social leader; We send a heartfelt tribute of solidarity to his family and friends”, said Maritza Pérez, coordinator of the Norte de Santander Victims Participation Table.
The departmental representative of the population affected by the violence in Norte de Santander expressed her concern about the risks run by the members of the Municipal Committee of Victims and asked for greater protection for them.
For her part, the territorial director of the Victims’ Unit, Alicia María Rojas Pérez, reiterated her rejection of the crime and sent a message of strength and support to Jorge Solano’s family and loved ones: “From the entity we promoted this space of the Prevention Subcommittee and we ask the Mayor’s Office to provide humanitarian support to the family of the victim of this unfortunate event, with psychosocial accompaniment to the family and members of the participation table who are greatly affected. In addition, we request that in the event of any threat or risk, it be activated within the framework of the route to follow up on the cases”.
