Victims of antipersonnel mines and with disabilities will receive training in advocacy on public policies

The delegates for these and other approaches to the National Table for the Effective Participation of Victims will be part of a virtual meeting for three days, which will be attended by various entities of SNARIV.

On September 23, 24 and 25, the II National Meeting of representatives of the departmental tables of Victims will take place virtually due to the disability approach and the victimizing acts of Antipersonnel Mines and Physical and Psychological Integrity, in order to qualify the incidence of these leaders in the public policy of victims.

In addition, the meeting will provide a space for training and exchange of experiences so that the representatives can see related the National System of Attention and Comprehensive Reparation to Victims with the National Disability System, the policy of Comprehensive Action Against Antipersonnel Mines (AICMA) and the policy public disability. 141 representatives and 2 organizations that defend the rights of victims will participate.

Aura Helena Acevedo, Director of Inter-institutional Management, said that “the Victims Unit has been developing multiple actions that promote the inclusion and mainstreaming the differential approach to disability in all measures of care, assistance and comprehensive reparation, as well as the articulation between the policy of care for victims, with the policy of care for people with disabilities”.

“In the same way, the entity, in conjunction with the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace – Comprehensive Action Group against Antipersonnel Mines and the Counseling for the Participation of People with Disabilities, has carried out actions that lead these people to enjoy effective of their rights”, explained the official.

The participation of entities such as the Attorney General’s Office, Ombudsman’s Office, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Housing, City and Territory, Land Restitution Unit, National Land Agency, Comprehensive Action Against Antipersonnel Mines (AICMA), is expected to participate. Office of the High Commissioner for Peace, Presidential Council for the Participation of People with Disabilities, Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Ministry of the Interior, ICETEX, Ministry of Education and SENA.

According to the National Information Network, there are 3.509 registered victims of Antipersonnel Mines, Unexploded Ammunition and Improvised Explosive Device (2,825 men, 683 women and 1 LGBTI); 4.688 of Personal Physical Injuries (3.024 men, 1621 women, 43 LGBTI); 4.856 of Personal Psychological Injuries (3.060 men, 1789 women, 7 LGBTI); and 7.140 people with disabilities (5.386 men, 1.740 women and 14 LGBTI).
