Two bridges that give way to progress in Caldono

The Victims Unit in partnership with the Mayor of Caldono and the inhabitants of the village Honda – Estrella, in the Pioya reservation, opened two vehicular bridges on Tuesday that will allow this population to communicate with the other municipalities of the department of Cauca.

Initially, the construction of a bridge that allowed the access and communication of the village Honda – Estrella in Caldono was planned, but thanks to the good execution of the work and the articulation between the authorities and the community, a second bridge was built that improves even more the conditions of access and the quality of life of this population that has historically been affected by the conflict.

“This is an emblematic work, because after suffering for several years the horror of conflict, the community, the Mayor’s Office of Caldono and the Victims Unit joined forces to make the dream come true of having these works that improve notoriously the quality of life of inhabitants of the Village Honda – Estrella”, said the director of the Victims Unit, Ramón Rodríguez.

With the inauguration of the bridge, in Granadillo area – Honda – Estrella, access to raw materials and supplies will be guaranteed for the cultivation of daily sustenance products in this community, as well as allowing the entry of construction materials, in order to improve the conditions of habitability, among other benefits.

In total, the Victims’ Unit provided more than 106 million pesos, within the framework of the strategy for strengthening and / or building social and community infrastructure of the Emergency Prevention and Response Branch, directly benefiting more than 115 inhabitants of Pioya shelter.

“The importance of this project lies in the fact that this road was the only one that did not have access by road, a reality that today changes thanks to the inauguration of the two bridges that in turn will allow transporting products such as fique and fruit crops”, said Ovidio Hurtado, governor of the indigenous council.

In this way, the Victims’ Unit reiterates its commitment to the comprehensive reparation of all the communities affected by the conflict, communities that today see progress, equity and productivity reach their territories.
