The Victims Unit director, Ramón Rodríguez, said that 15 days ago an agreement was signed with the mayor of Ibagué for the construction of attention and social inclusion Center. “The center will attend at least 500 daily victims in that city,” said the director during the workshop BUILDING A COUNTRY held in the municipality of Fresno (Tolima).
According to the Unified Registry of Victims (RUV), with a court ruling on November 30, 2018, Tolima has 208,396 victims, of which 110,945 are in Ibagué and 3,116 in the municipality of Fresno.
According to Rodríguez Andrade, the Victims Unit will carry out 1,014 transfers in the month of January, for the concept of Humanitarian Attention in this department.
On the other hand, initiatives aimed at victims with disabilities in Armero municipality will be supported. The assistance to victims with disabilities has been one of the main concerns of this population in Tolima, as stated by the spokesperson Néstor Darío Saavedra during his speech. In this sense, the actions of Unit will focus on improving the performance of daily activities and quality of life and those with a socio-productive component that will strengthen projects for the cultivation and sale of papaya.
The director also stated that to date the Victims Unit has compensated 962,000 victims, of which 13,744 are located in Tolima.
As part of Law 1448, the Victims Unit, along with national and territorial entities, has provided assistance to the victims of conflict through three points located in Tolima: one in the city of Ibagué and the other two in the municipalities of Chaparral and Libano.
Likewise, during 2018 the Unit supported social and community infrastructure projects, with materials and furniture for the provision of classrooms and educational institutions in the municipalities of Herveo, Líbano and Natagaima for a value of 387 million pesos. In the same way, through the implementation of subsidiary support in money to the territorial entities, the requested support was made for immediate assistance and humanitarian assistance, which benefited 149 households in nine municipalities. In the month of December, tranfers of 115 indemnities were made, amounting to 1,114 million.
In addition to this, the Unit has accompanied 1,227 returned households. The offer of the National System for Attention and Reparation for Victims (Snariv) has also been brought to this territory through service fairs and topics such as income generation, education and housing, among others.
