This Tuesday the formal delivery of 16 houses was made in the village of La Avianca, belonging to the municipality of Pivijay, Magdalena, as an action led by the Victims Unit, represented by the Magdalena territorial director, Carlos Ortiz Ruíz, in articulation with the Agrarian Bank, entity that provided the subsidy, and the Family Compensation Fund of Cesar (Comfacesar), responsible for executing the contract.
This measure of reparation was established within the framework of the ‘Project of 42 rural homes valid for 2013’. Since July of this year the families were already living in the homes that were delivered and yesterday was the officialization of the delivery process.
The territorial director of Unit in the Magdalena, Carlos Ortiz Ruiz, said that this is a process that is being advanced with the Government to repair the damage caused to the victims. “Although no material element is going to compensate all the damage that the survivors of the conflict experienced, it is possible to take steps that improve their quality of life so that they feel safe in their homes, and thus, little by little, they will repair the social fabric of our country”.
Orizon Orozco, one of the beneficiaries, highlighted the positive impact on improving the quality of life for him and his family. “We are happy, thanking God and the Unit for these houses, because when the project started we did not believe. That happens to us, sometimes we do not believe because we think that projects are not going to happen immediately, but that is waiting. Today I am thankful”.
The mayor of Pivijay, Eduardo Villa, stressed the importance of these actions for all those who suffered from violence. “I feel very happy with the delivery of these 16 houses by the hand of the Victims Unit.”
Two other homes will be delivered soon in La Avianca and 24 more in the village of Las Piedras, also belonging to the municipality of Pivijay, Magdalena.
