The Mondó – Mondocito reservation is located in the municipality of Tadó, department of Chocó, and is made up of four communities, namely: Mondó, Brubatá Alto Bonito, Sabaletera and Pueblo Nuevo, with a population of approximately 723 people, belonging to the Embera Katío people.
There, since 2016 the Victims Unit has been working hard hand in hand with the community in its collective reparation process, managing to formulate 17 measures in the Comprehensive Collective Reparation Plan (PIRC).
These measures seek, among other things, to leverage the strengthening of the organizational and productive capacities of the community; For this reason, the delivery of the truck is of great importance as it will make it possible to make the productive exercise of the community more technical, improving the marketing capacities of the corn, yucca, banana and cocoa crops present in the community, contributing to food security.
“The Victims Unit is one and we are acting throughout the country, making this type of deliveries to fulfill the victims through the materialization of measures in the subjects of collective reparation, this truck represents development and progress for the community victim in Chocó, undoubtedly a way to contribute to equity and peace in the territory” argued Laura Moreno, territorial director of the Unit in the Coffee Region.
Likewise, the delivery of the car will generate added value; firstly, the costs would have a much more affordable value for the final purchaser and secondly, they would no longer have to use third parties to transport these products, which will allow them to reach other markets more efficiently.
Álvaro Valencia, indigenous governor of the reservation, expressed his happiness for the delivery: “I am happy for the delivery of this truck, it will be of great use to us to transport items and to get food from the reservation, this truck is a reason for great joy for the community and for that we are too grateful to the Victims Unit”.
With the fulfillment of this measure, we continue to show our commitment to the construction of the social network in different areas of the Colombian territory and therefore the construction of peace with the support of the national government through the Victims Unit.
