The Rrom (Gypsy) people became the first ethnic group to close their Comprehensive Collective Reparation Plan in Antioquia to overcome the damage suffered during the armed conflict.
During the last Transitional Justice Committee held in Parque Biblioteca Débora Arango, in the municipality of Envigado, the gypsies made a cultural and gastronomic show as the last measure of this process.
There they showed dances, talked about their rituals and explained part of their cultural legacy and traditions with which they live within their kumpanya. El Pueblo Rrom, made up of 9 kumpanyas and 2 organizations, has a presence in 9 departments nationwide and one is Envigado, made up of 35 family centers located in Angostura, Copacabana and Envigado.
Wilson Cordoba Mena, director of the Unit for Victims in Antioquia, reported that “within the 14 measures contemplated in the Collective Reparation Plan agreed, are the measures of rehabilitation, awareness of culture and strengthening it, offer of health and education. This way, the collective reparation plan of this subject is fulfilled “.
Juan Manuel Botero, mayor of the municipality of Envigado, said that “we have articulated with the Government of Antioquia and with the National Government to be able to advance in the processes of collective reparation of the Rrom people settled in our territory, starting from a political will that always has been had in this administration. “
In Antioquia, the Unit for the Reparation of Victims has 44 recognized collective reparation subjects, 13 of them with plans in implementation of measures such as rehabilitation of roads, schools, bridges, parks, endowments to medical centers, houses of culture, booths, support for productive projects and recovery of traditions, among other community works.
