In houses and rooms of the districts of Turbay and El Mohán in Suratá, (Santander) recording equipment was set up to fulfill one of the dreams of these communities: the production of ‘Sounds of the Mountain’, a work with 12 unpublished songs of the musicians of the region.
Simón González, musical producer, highlighted the work that is being done. “We are implementing a measure contemplated in the collective reparation plan, which consists of recording an album with the group Los Clavelitos de Turbay and one of El Mohán, with the intention of leaving a memory document and remembering the people who were doing it. part this group and that because of the conflict can not be.”
In the songs, to the rhythm of guasca and carranga, the stories of their people are narrated and some topics that tell how the armed conflict was lived:

From those wars everything ended
Those friends who have already died
My beloved town, I do not forget it
Rioquelmes Arenís, member of CLAVELITOS DE TURBAY group, expressed his emotion for this work: “A very beautiful experience. In this region we had never had support for this. We have made a good recording and we value what one has, here with the musician friends we want to move forward, “he said and thanked the Victims Unit for the management that made the recording possible.
This album is one of the communication measures that are implemented in this community subject to collective reparation, where a historical memory card narrated by the same inhabitants was also elaborated, as well as a documentary video that reconstructs the history of Turbay and El Mohán from theirs prosperous times of agriculture until the moment in which the armed groups burst into its region.
The products are a reflection of the way the inhabitants of Turbay and El Mohán lived through the armed conflict and how they now seek to rebuild their townships to become again the department’s agricultural pantry.
