This weekend holiday, from Saturday 3 to Monday 5 of November, the community of Arenillo, Pradera, will celebrate the second version of its Trout Fair. It is a festivity with which this population shows its own and visitors the benefits of its territory, as well as its resurgent tourist vocation, which is being recovered after this region had serious effects on account of the internal armed conflict.
As will be remembered, Arenillo, Pradera (as well as the neighboring villages of Los Pinos and La Ruiza) were recognized by the Colombian Government as a subject of collective reparation in 2015, after having suffered confinement for a period of almost five years from paramilitary groups, in addition to many other victimizing acts.
Francisco Güefia, leader of this community, extended the invitation to all the inhabitants of Valle del Cauca, to attend these parties.
“We will have a ride from La Buitrera to Arenillo, from Saturday at 2 in the afternoon. People can also go to enjoy a delicious smoked trout or have a good time with a varied artistic offer, among which is the `YO ME LLAMO` of Luis Alberto Posada,” he said, adding that there will be competitions and presentations of cultural groups local.
Dan Harry Sánchez, territorial director (e) of Victims Unit in the Valley, said that “with the fair this path tells others about their desire to get ahead and about the actions they are taking towards their repair. With it they also show the region the new projects that have been coming to the community over the last year, in which they are very committed “. In addition, the official highlighted the process of reconstruction of social fabric that this subject of collective reparation is experiencing, in which strong values such as solidarity are evident.
María Isabel Barberena, professional of the Victims Unit, in agreement with the IOM, said that currently Arenillo has six trout production units, which benefit 16 families. “This shows the capacity for self-management, leadership and entrepreneurship of the community,” she said.
