The Cauca territorial of the Victims Unit, together with entities belonging to the National System of Attention and Comprehensive Reparation to Victims (SNARIV), coordinated the care of 278 displaced people from the El Plateado district to the municipality of Algeria and cities such as Popayán in Cauca, Pasto in Nariño and Cali in Valle.
Given this fact, the director of the Victims Unit in Cauca, Dan Harry Sánchez Cobo, stated that “as the coordinating entity of SNARIV, we have accompanied the municipal administrations of Algeria and Popayán in the activation of the Contingency Plan and articulating actions that they can minimize the damages that are caused to this population, receiving in the first instance humanitarian aid to mitigate basic needs”.
In addition, he explained that “due to subsidiarity, through the entity, and in coordination with the Blumont cooperating, 13 families who are in temporary shelter in Popayán were given kitchen kits, dishes, toilet and food”.
In the same way, the official added that “as a Victims Unit, we will continue to provide all the coordination and support deemed pertinent to safeguard the rights of this affected population, in coordination with the territorial directorates of Valle and Nariño as well as with control bodies, international aid workers, ICBF and Migration Colombia, among others, we will provide support and recommendations to municipal administrations”.
It should be noted that the mayoralties of Algeria and Popayán, the Ministry of the Interior, the National Protection Unit, the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare and international cooperators such as Blumont and Alianza por la Solidaridad, among others, have provided their support in this situation of displacement.
