The Unit for the Victims delivered immediate humanitarian aid on Nariño’s Pacific Coast

Humanitarian aid covers more than 3,000 families from the Telembi Triangle and Nariño’s Pacific Coast.

The Unit for the Victims reached Roberto Payan, Magui Payan, Barbacoas and San Andres de Tumaco municipalities to follow up on emergencies and support Immediate Humanitarian Aid delivery to the families who were forced to leave their homes due to the conflict.

This Humanitarian Aid entails food, hygiene and kitchen items, blankets, bedding sets, mats, mosquito nets and towels, among others, for the benefit of more than 3,000 affected families in this area.

Juan Carlos Sinisterra, Roberto Payan’s Mayor, stressed that “it is important for us, as municipal administrations, to feel support in the face of the crisis these families are experiencing today due to the conflict. This delivery shows we are not alone, that we can rely on the Government and that we will continue to manage to achieve the attention of the families affected by the conflict.”

For his part, Alejandro Quiñonez, Magui Payan´s Mayor, highlighted the importance of this Immediate Humanitarian Aid: “the deliveries carried out today by the Unit for the Victims, and the visit that its officials make to the territory show institutional support with the population. The items they receive today, such as food, blankets and mats, allow families to have better conditions in this difficult time they are going through.”

Maria Cristina Carreño, Emergencies Prevention and Aid Sub-director, who led the visit to these municipalities, restated the Unit’s commitment for this population’s aid: “We are in the territory as the Unit for the Victims delivering this humanitarian aid. We will continue supporting these families, monitoring these victimizing events, and promoting different spaces so these situations don’t happen again.”

The Territorial Director, William Pinzon, balanced this visit to the Telembi Triangle and Nariño’s Pacific Coast municipalities. He assured the Unit will continue to coordinate actions with the SNARIV and international cooperation entities to provide the aid this population needs.
