Quindío Victims’ Roundtable strengthens skills to work for its population

The Victims’ Unit, the Ombudsman’s Office and the Ministry of the Interior attended the plenary session of that organization, to reinforce the training of its members on Law 1448 and continue adjusting their work plans.

Laura Moreno Mejía, territorial director of the Victims Unit in Eje Cafetero, and the work team at the national and territorial level, led the pedagogical conference with the members of the Departmental Board of Victims of Quindío, whose main objective was to increase capacity and competence of its members within the framework of public policy for victims.

Officials from the Quindío Ombudsman’s Office and the Ministry of the Interior also participated in this exercise for issues such as the Territorial Action Plan and, of course, more than 20 leaders of territory victims, coordinated by the leader, Nora Vélez Ortiz.

“This pedagogical andIt is quite important for us as entities and of course so that you as leaders of the population can continue to strengthen your knowledge, in order to enrich the scope of Law 1448 day by day, and that this translates into management for the community”, said the territorial director.

Moreno in the virtual meeting also invited the leaders to multiply the message of peace and reconciliation among the population. During the day the most relevant characteristics of the various missionary processes of the Unit and the progress they have made were socialized.

Similarly, adjustments were made to the work plan, bringing it into line with what was recently stated by the Quindío Government, through the proposals contained in the Territorial Action Plan, which in turn was approved by the plenary of the table.

“From the Departmental Table of Victims we want to thank the Unit and the other entities for accompanying us in these calls and being able to allocate human and logistical resources to continue training us, this product of the work that we have been doing as a team and we are sure that it has been a journey very fruitful with information of vital importance for the population, we invite you to continue working on a key basis, especially for issues of psychosocial care from the municipalities”, said Nora Vélez, coordinator of the Table.

Finally, the victims’ leaders also requested effective measures in two aspects: the creation of an office for women and specific attention to women victims of  armed conflict in the department and speed up the creation of the point of attention for victims in Río Verde, a commitment assumed by the Victims Unit in previous days.
