Victims Unit was certified in Occupational Health and Safety and recertified in Quality

This was announced by the director of the Victims Unit at the close of the audit to which the entity was subjected.

The director of the Victims Unit, Ramón Alberto Rodríguez Andrade, revealed this Friday that the entity achieved the ISO 45001: 2018 SG Safety and Health at Work Certification at the end of the audit that was carried out since Monday, November 9, complying with one of the goals that we had been working on for a year.

This certification focuses on “the requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, and provides guidance for its use, to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injuries and illnesses. as well as by proactively improving your OH&S performance. ISO 45001: 2018 is applicable to any organization that wishes to establish, implement and maintain an OH&S management system to improve occupational health and safety, eliminate risks and minimize OH&S risks (including system deficiencies), take advantage of OH&S opportunities and address the management of OH&S system non-conformities associated with its activities”, as explained by Icontec on its website [1].

Similarly, the General Director of the entity announced that the Victims Unit achieved the recertification of ISO 9001, Quality Management System, “which provides a solid basis for a Management System, in terms of satisfactory compliance of the requirements of the sector and excellence in performance, characteristics compatible with other requirements and standards such as the Environmental Management System, Safety, Occupational Health, among others” [2].

For the director of the Victims Unit, these two certifications ratify the commitment of the entity and its collaborators with its institutional mission. “This certification is for the victims, to be able to attend, assist and repair the victims in the best way possible within the legal framework that we have, which is a law and some decree-laws that allow us to do so”.

“We are going for other certifications, because what we are looking for is to have an entity that, first of all, is a family. Second, we seek to have an entity that is on the path to excellence. Sometimes I consider that quality is not the end, quality always becomes a process and in front of that one sometimes says that the final goal is certification, but in reality, the final goal must be to strengthen the processes that allow us to reach to that end”, added the director of the Unit.

On the other hand, Rodríguez also addressed the collaborators of the institution: “To thank him for that work that shows a commitment, a fulfillment of goals and a dedication. I have the fortune of being in the entity for many years and I have always been convinced of the importance of all quality issues, and that is why now that I have the opportunity to be the director of this entity, from the beginning I have been committed in seeking excellence”.

Faced with the non-conformities that resulted from the audit, the Director General concluded that “they are a great opportunity to continue working and improving daily on all issues of the Victims Unit”.
