Victims Unit consolidates cooperation with the World Bank and Sweden to execute one million dollars in 2019

In the project, in which the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation (APC) also participates, three million dollars have already been invested and 45 reparation measures for 22 subjects of collective reparation are still to be implemented this year.

During the follow-up committee to the cooperation project supported by the World Bank, the Swedish Embassy and the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation (APC), the director of the Victims Unit, Ramón Rodríguez, stated that “the cooperators are very important to be able to care for victims and for resources to reach the communities that need it most. The idea is to be able to finish this project in which we have to execute one million dollars in 2019”.

On the other hand, Enrique Ardila, director of Repair of the Unit, explained that 31 subjects of Collective Repair have already been favored, with an investment of three million dollars and 22 subjects are missing with 45 measures of reparation.

During the analysis committee, Viviana Ferro, deputy director of entity, explained the situation of the Victims Law at the request of National Development Plan approved by Congress, the strengthening of the Reparation Fund and the possible extension of Law 1448, to fulfill the commitments with all the victims in the country.

“Strengthening is required in several components and one of these is Collective Reparation, which is also recognized as part of social fabric in the territories, and promotes reconciliation scenarios”, she said.

Mariana Felicit, manager of the World Bank for the Collective Reparation of Victims project, said that “supporting this project for the Bank is an unprecedented experience, because it is a very innovative project”. “In particular, it has given us the opportunity to see how a government agency such as the UARIV can be strengthened to systematize a collective reparation model”, she added.

In turn, Catalina Hoyos, manager of the Collective Repair Project of the Swedish Embassy, ​​Donor Nation, recalled that her country is a partner for peace in Colombia two decades ago.

“In this project we are supporting all the implementation of collective reparation measures and additionally, all the strengthening of the capacities of the Victims Unit, so that it can implement these measures in various subjects of reparation throughout the country”, she noted.

Finally, she said that “Sweden is a partner for peace and supports this integral process of the victims, hoping that there are guarantees of non-repetition”.

The committee participated, Ramón Rodríguez, director of the Victims Unit; the deputy director, Viviana Ferro; the repair director, Enrique Ardila and the coordinator of the International Cooperation Group, Nicolás Fernández de Soto.

Also present were Mariana Felicit, project manager of the World Bank; Catalina Hoyos, project manager of the Embassy of Sweden, and Camilo Gamba of the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation (APC), among others.
