Victims Unit and Governance of Santander articulate work for the victims

The territorial direction of Victims Unit in the Magdalena Medio together with the Government of Santander, through the Ministry of the Interior, have as their goal to work to guarantee the election of participation tables, the training of the same and the support in the commemoration of representative dates for the survivors of armed conflict in this area of the country.

In the facilities of the territorial management of the Victims Unit in Magdalena Medio, the team of officials of the entity met, the Secretary of the Interior of Santander, Andrés Fandiño Bohórquez and the Director of Victims of the Government of Santander, Luis Alfonso Aparicio.

The main objective of this meeting was to review the plans that exist between both entities to advance in the integral reparation of victims of armed conflict.

On behalf of the Victims Unit, the space was used to request support in the dissemination of process, requirements and timing of the registration process of victims ‘and defenders’ organizations of victims interested in integrating the municipal, departmental and national tables, taking note that the deadline for this expires on March 31.

Amparo Chicué Cristancho, territorial director of Victims Unit in Magdalena Medio, through her speech recalled the importance of taking into account the victims in the process of construction of Victims public policy, adding that “it is important to take into account that it is necessary to guarantee the participation of those who lived through the scourge of war, because in this way we build with acts to the integral reparation of our survivors”.

At the same time, it was possible to agree on a next meeting, in the facilities of the Government of Santander, in order to review in detail, the training processes both for the victims that integrate these advocacy spaces, as well as for leaders who are not part of the tables but showing interest in representing and advancing the survivors in the construction of public policy and in turn in comprehensive reparation.

Finally, mention was made of the need to commemorate the representative dates and marked a milestone in the lives of the survivors of conflict in this region of the country and that it is necessary to be able to make progress in the reparation taking into account that it is part of the measures of satisfaction to which the victims of conflict are entitled to.

For his part, Andrés Fandiño added that “without participation and accompaniment there is no peace process, so they can rest assured that the Government will fully support this work of participation of the victims, as a sign and guarantee that we want an integral repair “.

For this Friday, February 25, the appointment will be held in the Governorate of Santander to be able to reflect the commitments that originated from the meeting held at the facilities of the Victims’ Unit and which is committed to guaranteeing the empowerment of the leaders of the survivors of armed conflict in Colombia.
